The Lich King Is Mine!!

It's mine!!! Don't bother tying to call me for the next week or two... I will be ... sick... |
Yesterday the long awaited day had finally arrived. Yesterday the newest World of Warcraft expansion was released. I can honestly say there is little better then getting out of work and racing home to know that my copy of "Wrath of the Lich King" would be waiting at the door for me like a little puppy. Hell there was even some soft muffled 'mewing' involved when I got home (though I think the 'mewing' might have possibly been coming from me).
The past few years have had a lot of changes for me. Ups and downs. Hell we all go through it. That's life or so 'they' say. Yet one thing that has remained a constant in my life is my need to kill Alliance characters while leveling up a virtual troll. Hmm, when I write it out like that, it doesn't sound like something to be saying in a public forum. At the very least it is good to know that Blizzard (the company that creates the glory that is World of Warcraft) is still putting out new content for their game even four years later. The best part is, they do it in such an exciting way as to make the past few days leading up to the expansions release new and exciting (I won't go into details but lets just say there were zombies involved and leave it at that )
What better way to celebrate such an occasion as a new expansion then to take a personal day off from work so I can spend all day playing... You know that doesn't sound like something I should be saying out loud either... In all honesty this is not the first time I have taken time off from work for a game,(cough cough Metroid Prime) and I doubt it will be the last time.
So, Trollnor is now on his way to becoming a level 80 powerhouse... Or at the very least a level 80 glass-jawed shaman that can't seem to stay alive long enough to even put a dent into his enemies armor let alone inflict harm upon them... Damn shamans!

Flash... AHHHHHAAAAAAA!

How many football player saving the universe movies can Hollywood put out there? Speaking of which the remake is already in the works... Ahhhhaaaaaaa! |
One of the more frustrating things about having an on-line service provide you with entertainment is when that on-line entertainment service can't provide the entertainment you crave. For this reason, I have just lost 1 hour and 51 minutes of my life re-watching Flash Gordon.
It all started with Blockbuster's inability to provide me with disk 1 of season 3 of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Long wait they said.. humph.. Welcome to the internet biatches! Sin decided she did not like the concept of the 'long wait', so she signed up to use Netflix free 2 week trial so we could get disk 1 of season 3 of Star Trek: The Next Generation (minus the long wait) while sticking it to both Netflix (which will be canceled after we watch Star Trek disk) and Blockbuster (who could have just lost some customers to their competitor).
Anyhow one of the perks to Netflix is they have a ton of really stupid movies that you can watch for on-line. Sure there are plenty of other sites that do this already. Sure Netflix is not a free site after two weeks. What Netflix did have was Flash F'N Gordon (he saved every one of us!).
Worse movie ever.. Yet like a DIJFYS' post with a movie link... I had to watch despite my better judgment.
Next on the list, Species 4!

Best Vampire Movie: Salem's Lot (1979)

 No Goth Vampires Allowed! |
As I mentioned a few posts ago, Sin and I have decided to celebrate this Halloween by watching horror movies all month long. While the list of movies has been coming along very nicely, I thought I would point out one of the better movies on our list, namely Salem's Lot.
Salem's Lot has always stood out in my mind as one of the best vampire movies of all time. While some of the movie is a little dated by today's gore filled standards (keep in mind this movie is almost 30 years old), I have always been fascinated by it. I think this fascination stems from the fact that Salem's Lot was an adaptation of a Stephen King book as well as the fact that it was a made for TV movie. Normally those two items combined would mean death to the subject matter. Despite those two issues though, Salem's Lot still manages to be scary as Hell.
I won't bother to go into details as to what makes this TV movie so great. If you don't know go rent it. I just wanted to give the 'nod' to the movie and its creators (if any of them are still among the living these days).

Core Duo!
|

You know a computer is fast when even the power supply has racing stripes painted on it. |
Despite my better judgment, I decided it was time to upgrade my PC. For a while there the decision was up in the air. It is my personal belief that after a certain point, upgrading becomes pointless for your day to day PC operations. Other then code, read write email, and visit this site,I don't use my computer for much else. So why spend cash on hardware which will not really improve those experiences?
Then I realized I Play WOW on my computer. That was the impetus behind my recent (and rather expensive) PC upgrade. That and in all honesty it really was time for an upgrade despite my above thoughts.
So what did I get? Well I could go into details, but who would care? Lets just say after I got my new rig together and running with the help of Clip, I found I was not sorry about my purchases. The system runs fast and flawless so far.
I must say though that parts have come such a long way then from when I built my last computer. For example the core duo I installed was about 1/4th smaller then my old processor. Given that there are two cores on the new chip, I expected it to be much larger... Also, the last time I checked, RAM didn't come with 6 inch copper heat sinks attached right to the chips . Yes, times have changed for PC parts.
All this so I can play WOW at a solid 60FPS. Just in time for the new expansion. Life is good these days.

Horror Moviethon 2008

One of the best things about not being in school this year, is having free time to celebrate holidays. While Halloween is not a real holiday, it just happens to be my favorite pseudo holiday out there (next to Rocknor day). So this year, instead of doing tons of school work and crying about it, I will be celebrating Halloween by watching a ton of horror movies (and crying about it).
This plan has already been put into action by Sin and I. Scratched off the current list of horror movies that must be watched before Oct 31st are the following; Psycho, Army Of Darkness, Friday The 13th, Blade ( Sin picked this one). While the list is very long, I am hoping to get some more good classics on there like Salam's Lot (original), Halloween, and Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. OK maybe not Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.
In addition to all the horror movie watching, I even get to have time to decorate. Sadly living in a single room doesn't lend its self to creating giant haunted landscapes, but I did what I could. A bag of webbing and some orange lights can go a long way to making me feel like I am making progress on re-socializing myself to the outside world.
Maybe I will even find time to make up some Halloween decorations for the site...

What If I Were A Different Person?
|
|
|
by Rock

Sometimes I daydream what it would be like if I were a different person. Maybe the term 'different', is not exactly what I mean. How about sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be a petty thief. There I think that is a little more accurate and more so brings us to the point of today's post.
I find myself thinking these thoughts on odd occasions. For example when I see a person leaving their car running at the convenience store while they go spend their hard earned dollars on cigarettes and lotto tickets, I think to myself, how easy would it be to just drive off with their car. Another example is when I see people leave their homes unattended while they go off to work jobs they hate (so they can afford to buy lotto tickets and cigarettes ). One small kick to their front door, and all their stuff would become my stuff. My final example has just come to me in the past few days. That is, how easy would it be to steele the crew teams foot apparel.
You see every morning I pass by the river, I see about 4 crew boats full of crew team members out for their morning practice (though I wonder how much practice one needs to really row a boat). Every time I pass by, I notice that there are about 40 pairs of shoes and socks laying out on the dock. Unattended, with the exception that the crew team is within sight. The perfect petty crime?
Think of it. The helpless crew team members could only watch in horror at the crazy bald man as he deftly picks their shoes up off the dock and places them into his trash bag. Socks, watches, wallets, and shoes, all get the same treatment from the petty criminal. As the crew team rushes back to the dock in their silly little boats, the crazy bald man runs to up the hill, into his car, and drives away with the loot.
What would he do with this new found loot? Well I think pulling up on the bridge where the crew team could still see him would be the first part of the plan. The second part of the plan, would be to then drop all the shoes and socks into the cold, dark, river below. The crazy man may even give a small wave to the gear before he hops back into his car and drives away.
Anyhow, sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be such a person. As bad as it sounds, sometimes I think it would generate a lot of chuckles which could pass the time in jail while waiting for trial.
